Natural & Healthy Dog Food

What goes into the bowl every day shapes how your dog feels, moves and ages. It’s the single biggest decision you make for their health, and it’s the reason food takes up most of the shelf space in our shop.

We carry natural dog food from small, family-owned companies that are open about their ingredients and where they come from. Kibble, wet food, fresh, freeze-dried raw, and gentle options for dogs who need something simpler. Every bag on our shelves has been chosen by someone who reads the labels for a living.

How We Choose What to Stock

There’s no shortage of dog food that markets itself well. What’s harder to find is food that holds up when you read the label and look at who makes it.

We look for small, family-owned companies, transparency about ingredients and sourcing, and Made in the USA whenever that option exists. We’d rather carry fewer brands we trust than fill the shelves with everything available.

Angela’s background is in nutrition — a graduate degree that includes it, and more than ten years doing nutrition work alongside a homeopathic house-call veterinarian. She keeps up with current research rather than marketing claims, and that’s what decides what goes on the shelf.

Why Dry Food Isn’t All the Same

Most dogs eat kibble, and there’s a wide gap between the best and the worst of it. The bag won’t tell you which one you’re holding.

What we look at is who makes the food, whether they’ll tell you where the ingredients come from, and whether the nutrition comes from real food rather than a synthetic premix sprayed on at the end. Those things don’t show up in the marketing, but they show up in the dog.

We stock a handful of brands that hold up to that, in formulas for puppies, adults, seniors, small breeds and large. If you want to know why one is on the shelf and another isn’t, ask. That’s the conversation we most enjoy having.

Wet, Fresh & Raw

Dogs didn’t evolve eating dry pellets. Adding moisture and fresh food to a bowl is one of the easiest upgrades you can make, and it doesn’t have to mean overhauling how you feed.

Wet food adds water and makes a meal worth eating for a dog who picks at it. Freeze-dried raw gives you the benefits of raw feeding without a freezer full of thawing meat. Either can go on top of the kibble you already buy — a topper counts.

Raw feeding brings real questions about portions, storage and safety, and there’s a lot of noise online. Come and ask. We’d rather talk it through with you than have you guess.

When Something Isn’t Agreeing With Them

Digestive trouble is the single most common reason people find us. Loose stools, gas, a dog who’s off their food or just not quite right after meals.

Food is usually where we start looking, because it’s usually where the answer is. Sometimes it’s one ingredient. Sometimes it’s a food that’s fine for most dogs but not this one. Working that out takes a conversation about what your dog eats, what changed, and what you’ve already tried — not a guess at the shelf.

We’re not veterinarians and we don’t diagnose. If symptoms are severe or don’t improve, see your vet. What we can offer is time, current research, and an explanation of the reasoning behind anything we suggest, so the decision stays yours.

Come In and Ask

Choosing a dog food shouldn’t require a degree, but reading the labels honestly does help. That’s what we’re here for.

Tell us what your dog eats now, what’s working and what isn’t, and how much you want to change. You’ll get a clear answer and as much detail as you want — and no pressure to buy the most expensive bag on the shelf.

We’re in the Centaur Village shopping center in Lafayette, just off South Boulder Road, with free parking right in front. Bring the dog.
